every dog I know that has lived in porcupine country encounters them sometime in their career as a dog. Some are worse than others. Here's Valley's encounter with the bristley beasts. Ha! 3 quills. Not too bad. I've had to pull hundreds out of dogs before. Lucky us. Ganik ignored the thing and Babe(jago) trotted way out of her way to avoid the thing.

That is getting off easy! Was that Valley's first date with a procupine?

Having just my first encounter last week, Ulli had 20 quills embedded inside his thigh.

7 quills have gone through his leg to pop out the inside of his thigh, and today I just pulled one out that was poking out of his back, 15 inches from where the quill entered. I'm hoping that no quills have entered his internal organs.

Acording to the vet, getting quilled in the face is much less dangerous than other parts of the body. The skull stops the quills from migrating.

She was definitely getting off easy which was a big surprise to me.

Your story with Ulli is pretty incredible. I added some writing to your blog. Amazing!
