More Bullcrap

This is the time of Moose Rut. A time when we can see lots of moose concentrated into a small area. Great wildlife viewing. It should be in the swing of thing with lots of bulls and cows, but for some odd reason, its starting late and not many are around. So I had to hunt them up.

I stopped and sat down to take a break, when I spotted this bull in the bushes. Lucky me, I would have hated to walk by and surprised him.

This bull charged by surprising us and stopping our hearts for a second or two.

Big Bull, in the willow, chasing little bull off. Right before little bull charged us. We had to skidaddle pronto.

We ran behind a tree for "protection" LOL.

And the Big Bull still going after the little bull.

Berry Nice

We headed up to Manitoba Mountain for some hiking and berry picking. Valley sure appreciated running off leash.

Before long it started snowing.

And Snowing...

the blueberry picking was great once we dropped down out of elevation. 1 quart in about 15 or 20 minutes :)

Its Enough to Make You See Red

This weekend, our first weekend of fall, we headed out for hike and collection of blueberries. Despite the wind, off and on again rain, and a bit of sunshine, we collected a bucket's worth and climbed up to Ptarmigan Pass to warm up and gain a view.

Gilpatrick

We hiked out Gilpatricks via the mine road this weekend. Intended to climb up to the ridge and take the ridge on up but missed it in the mist. As the day evolved, it turned into a pretty nice day.

this is Valley's, Marmot?!?! did I hear a marmot? pose

Flower Girl.

Hey Mom, look at me!

Afternoon Thundershowers

An afternoon thundershower swept through with heavy rain, some lightening strikes which left some smoke in the woods and this :)

A fine weekend indeed

After a few weeks of rain, the forecast looked like fun. So we headed out of town for some car camping. Valley even got to run off leash, something always fun to be part of, she always gets so excited and knows exactly what is happening when we let her off. Like a Rocket, she takes off to enjoy the good life it brings.

Jago almost always goes off leash.

Here's Saber our foster dog, He always has a great time, rain or shine.

Happy Birthday Valley

Happy Birthday Valley, Number 5 for you! It was a great day to be together despite the rain. Hey you got to drink out of a hole in a rock! How many dogs got to do that today? I can't believe we've been together over 4 years.

Happy Valley

Its not often we let Valley off to run, but our recent trip into the Wrangell Mountains led us to that opportunity again. Doesn't Valley look happy?

Rainbow Peak

Valley and I scrambled up to the top of Rainbow Peak today, went pretty quick actually but the last bit at the summit was in the clouds. Nice to see a fog outside of my own head now and again :) Ridgewalker, from the Alaska Mountain Forum, recognized Valley from photos on the forum. Nice to meet a strange face :) Ridgewalker on the way up, funhog on the way down. This has to be one of my favorite hikes, long views of Turnagain Arm, particularly on the way down.

A view from high on the ridge.

Valley on our way down.
